Bryan & Jan Thompson
The Thompsons have been serving in Japan with OMF International since 1992. They have been involved with evangelism, discipleship, church planting, short-term ministries, medical care of missionaries, organizational leadership & administrative duties. Currently they live in Tokyo and oversee OMF’s short-term programs in Japan, in addition to a variety of organizational leadership roles. They have recently been approved for a new position as Directors for East Japan ( island of Honshu, which includes Tokyo) starting in June of 2011. This will involve practical and pastoral support for about 50 long-term missionaries, in addition to strategic planning for OMF’s work in the region. In preparation for their taking on the role as Directors of East Japan, they have been asked to lead a church plant in Yokohama from September 2010 until May 2011.
Lauren, their oldest, is currently finishing her “gap year” , in which she served as a short-term missionary in northern Japan & another country in East Asia. In the fall of 2010 she will begin her freshman year of college. Lauren enjoys playing the piano, learning languages, and teaching children.
Stephen, is a high school junior at the Christian Academy in Japan school in Tokyo. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis and basketball.
Ian, is an 8th grader at the same school. Ian enjoys music, singing and playing the piano, and also loves sports, especially soccer and basketball.
